Since the 1970 s, translation studies from the cultural perspective have greatly developed under the influence of “the cultural turn” in translation. Feminist translation became the product of alliance between feminism and translation after translation was viewed as parts of culture studies. With the development of feminist theories, feminist ideology awakens the translators’ gender awareness, which exerts great impacts on translation studies including translation theory, translation practice and translation criticism. The paper focuses on the localization of feminist translation theory, providing unlimited potential for broadening the perspective of translation studies and other translation models and promoting the practice and development of feminist translation theory in China. In addition, the perspective of feminist translators with a sense of gender has played a very good complement and improvement for feminist translation studies. This thesis selects Bing Xin’s Chinese version of Jitanjali as the research subject. The paper analyzes from the perspective of feminist translation theory and finds that the female translator Bing Xin has a better interpretation of the characteristics in the original with her unique feminine style features in linguistic level. And the feminist translator Bing Xin is much better in detecting and conveying the delicate feelings of the text by manifesting gender consciousness in aesthetic level and value. Then the paper explores Bing Xin’s translation thoughts including translation views, translation principles and Bing Xin’s translation strategies containing hijacking, supplement and omission, which provides some new ideas for translation practice and practical support for the future study of feminist translationstudies. According to analysis and discussion, the writer finds that from the perspective of feminist translation theory, the translators’ gender consciousness not only becomes a new field of translation studies but also the practical research in the context of Chinese feminist translation theory so as to broaden the field of translation studies in China.
