The apprenticeship system which involves social organizations and economy has a long history and is applied worldwide. Moreover, it is closely related to contracts, ties of blood and regions. The apprenticeship system regards the guild and the trade association of the artisans as its carrier and is characterized by its founction of recruiting,training,employing and qualification authentication. The modern apprenticeship is not only a special economy system but also a social mobility mechanism.what’s more, it’s a professional and technical training system.With the development of the modern enterprises in Yunnan, the traditional apprenticeship system is transforming step by step. With the establishment of the guild in the period of the Republic of China, the development of Yunnan apprenticeship system was getting into a period of prosperity, which developed a set of systematic and normative technical personnel training system include recruiting,training,graduating of apprentice as well as punishing for infringement. However, the traditional apprenticeship system of Yunnan inevitably ended in declination for being unable to overcome its own drawbacks and cannot meet the demand of the development of the modern enterprises. The apprenticeship system in Yunnan has its particularity and unique functions because it is learnt from other provinces instead of spontaneous generation.During the period of the Republic of China, the apprenticeship in Yunnan completed its transition from the traditional way to the modern way mainly shown in the following several aspects:firstly, the traditional apprenticeship which is just a conventional rules developed into a systematic and normative apprenticeship system during the period of the Republic of China. Secondly, the roles of the apprentice was converted from farmers-handicraftsmen-commercial and industrial practitioners pattern into farmers-cheap labour force pattern.Thirdly, it requires a contract with strict conditions and Specification of ceremony for a apprentice to get into the industry, which embodied the spirit of the modern contract, forming the transformation trend from the interpersonal relationship of modern Chinese society that give priority to affinity and geographic to occupational relations. Finally.the apprenticeship system in the period of the Republic of China is characterized as a transition between the tradition apprenticeship system and the modern apprenticeship system.On the one hand, it provided technical personnel for the development of the industry and commerce at that time, on the other hand, it provided helpful experiences for the modern apprenticeship.
