The disaster is an old and eternal topic, which passes through the long river of the human history, always being along with human beings. Ever since the dawn of the disaster, there has been existing disaster writing. Therefore, the disaster writing in American post-9/11 novels is an organic part of the disaster literature of America and the world. That the American post-9/11 authors write about the disaster of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks is to remember and rewrite the Events, and is also a kind of reflection and enlightenment. These writers’ writing disasters, catastrophic events and the disastrous impacts on human body and mind, ethics and ecology reflects their consciousness of disaster. In the process of disaster writing, they also express their strong consciousness of suffering and humanistic care for human future. The Master’s thesis is made up of the introduction, the body and the conclusion. In the introduction, it makes a brief overview of the American post-9/11 novels, and then makes a literature review at home and abroad, and finally illustrates the topic value and the research approaches. The body is composed of four chapters. Chapter One analyzes the disaster, disaster writing and the cultural roots of disaster writing in the traditional western literature, and introduces the disaster writing of the war and terrorism since the 20 th century, and then indicates that American post-9/11 novels is an organic part of the disaster literature in American literary history and even in the world literary history. Chapter Two analyzes the psychological disaster based on the 9/11 traumatic memories, and it, centering on psychological disaster, mainly explores the disaster writing in the post-9/11 novels and the disastrous effects that the Events have created on people’s psychology, in terms of individual and collective psychological disasters. Chapter Three discusses the ethical disaster of love-hate imbalance. It principally expounds the family ethical disasters and social ethical disasters in the post-9/11 fiction. Based on close reading of the text, it interprets the family ethical disaster from two aspects of husband-wife and parent-child ethical disasters. At the same time, it elaborates on the social ethical disaster from the perspective of person-to-person ethical disaster and terrorist-to-the-public ethical disaster. Chapter Four discourses upon the ecological disaster of the Apocalypse. It chiefly copes with the natural environmental disaster and the social environmental disaster. Finally, the conclusion points out that the 9/11 Events bring about enormous psychological trauma to people, but there is still hope after the traumatic disaster. The 9/11 Events put the people into ethical disaster, but the disasters help people review the value of life and the dignity of life, once again heal the broken affection, friendship and love, and let people know the responsibilities they are obliged to, so as to cherish the present life. The 9/11 Events bring the ecological disaster to such a degree that the natural environment is destroyed, and the social environment is corrupted, but this is the beginning of the apocalypse, which is the new life and new hope after the Phoenix Nirvana.
