Different from the western analytic thinking modern which based on "Subject-object dichotomy" philosophical, Chinese Classical Poetry emphasize the personal creation and the summary of appreciation experiences, focusing on pursing the freedom of inner life. Under the influence of the introspective experience, the Chinese poetry incline to the cryptic words, implicit fragments, ideal metaphor, strong, feeling, fuzzy expression, tripping imagery, which increase the difficulty of understanding of Chinese poetry. In the background of multiculturalism, the frequent academic communication between the east and the west, it is imperative to cultivate the sense of Chinese poetic. Shih-hsiang Chen and his theoretical construction on Chinese Lyricism has great significance in his vision and awareness of dialogue and expression in exchange.The first chapter introduces the establishment conditions of Chinese Lyricism. Traditional Chinese poetic has been in troubled, a number of Chinese scholars who has receipted the Western thought advocated literary revolution, changing the previous conception, which take the literature as a effective way to change social situation. They argued that we should go back to literature itself and propose the emergence of "pure poetry" conception.in the process of translating "Wen Fu", Shih-hsiang Chen would rather emphasis on researching the hidden life experience between the lines than the syntax and grammar structure of the text. Focusing on the characters, he recognized the hidden emotional power in language, which provided a model of Chinese translation and comparative perspective to literature interpretation from etymology, in the process of interpretation of China philosophy, Shih-hsiang Chen focused on discovery the similarities between China and Western philosophical concepts, which providing a theoretical basis for the poetic dialogue.The second chapter discusses the core idea of Chinese Lyricism:"Xing". Compare with the category research "Xing" in Chinese classical and modern context, Shih-hsiang Chen analyzed "Xing" from the perspective of etymology, discriminated the relationship between"poems expressing wills" and "poems endowed with feelings ". He found Chinese Literature has the lyrical tradition and further demonstrated the lyrical spirit of Chinese Poetry and Western romanticism is essentially different. The third chapter discusses the lyrical role of intrinsic time conscious, rhythm and metaphors and how they are used as a strategy. The fourth chapter studies the spiritual pursuit of Chinese Lyricism. Shih-hsiang Chen speak highly of Tao Yuanming, Su Shi and other poets whose poetry embodied in the "Natural Beauty". They are the model of poets. By compared the Chinese poetic ideal "natural" with Western naturalism, he shows the advantages of Chinese "natural".Due to the modern academic diversified, the worth of an academic view should be confirmed in the confrontation with the other thoughts. Shih-hsiang Chen materialize his Chinese poetic dreams in a heterogeneous culture. So proud of having the mission of promoting the national culture,that he constructed the " lyric tradition " theory, providing quotable way to the freed dialogue. After his hard working, this perspective has been widely used and make up some vulnerabilities in Chinese poetic research. However, many deviations phenomenon immersing in other theorists’ adoption. Shih-hsiang Chen’s original intention is to construct Chinese poetic system independent of the Western discourse authority, establishing platform for westward spread of Eastern Culture. Carding his theory can contribute to deep reflection.
