Study On Leisure Concept Of Shih-hsiang Wang's Prose From The Comparison Of Chinese And Western

Shih-hsiang Wang was born in a scholarly and official family,influenced by Chinese and Western culture and education,named as "the Capital of the player in Beijing".Shih-hsiang Wang is well influenced by both Chinese and western cultures,and his anecdotes have never existed in ancient times.Therefore,the leisure thoughts in his essays are worth western and Chinese culture comparing.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part is an introduction,which firstly gives a general introduction of Shih-hsiang Wang's life and introduces the Chinese and Western education and his playing and studying of his playthings.Secondly,it introduces the current status of Shih-hsiang Wang's essay research and the research value of his leisure thoughts.The second part of the dissertation introduces Shih-hsiang Wang's leisure thoughts from five dimensions,which are respectively—leisure experience:no pain,no joy;leisure core:being suitable and tactful;leisure effect:coming to truth;leisure state:spiritual touring with the object;Leisure path:from playing to researching.The third part of the thesis analyzes the relationship between Shih-hsiang Wang's leisure thoughts and Chinese and Western cultures.This part is the core of the dissertation.Under the infiltration of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,its leisure thoughts are influenced by the traditional "peaceful" and "idle" aesthetic and contemplative aesthetic of Chinese tradition.And because Shih-hsiang Wang was in the post-May Fourth period,the influx of western sciences had a great influence on the educational and social thoughts during the Republic of China.Shih-hsiang Wang studied in the American School from elementary to high school.Therefore,he was also deeply influenced by western aesthetic education and thought impact.Specifically,the western sources of his leisure thoughts are mainly three aspects:the philosophy of"practice and action" developed based on the dichotomy of epistemology;the utilitarian and figurative aesthetic concept;and the concept of liberalism and individualism.The fourth part of the dissertation is about the value of Shih-hsiang Wang's leisure thoughts.This part consists of two parts.Firstly,it analyzes the value of Shih-hsiang Wang's leisure thoughts in the perspective of comparison between Chinese and Western culture,which showed as three main aspects:none aristocratism and the super-utilitarianism,being quiet and passionate,including both the practice beyond and the spiritual transcendence.The second part explains Shih-hsiang Wang and his leisure thoughts for the modern enlightenment,shows that when there are both leisure and beauty,there is the best state of life.At last,the author calls on everyone to be pleased with their own pleasure.
