| Idiom embodies the Han nationality’s wisdom, it is the essence of the treasury of Chinese language. After two thousand years’ precipitation, idiom is considerable, its form is concise,but connotation is abundant. Idiom is widely used in written language and oral language, so it plays an important role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. With the improvement of Chinese level,foreign students will learn more and more Idioms. And teaching materials are an important source for students to learn idioms, so the study aims on the idioms which are from a set of teaching materials has practical value."Developing Chinese" series are rigorous in its layout and exert a tremendous influence. This study based on intermediate and advanced oral Chinese materials of this series, researched how do the idiom and related contents arranged, and investigated the actuality of using. Based on these two aspects, this study is hoping to provide some suggestions to help this set of oral materials become more complete and perfect, and to explore teaching methods for the idiom in the text, so that it could offer some suggestions for teachers and students.This paper is divided into four parts:the first part is the introduction, expounds how this topic arose, what idioms research status are and the significance of this issue.The second part investigates and analyses the idiom projects in intermediate and advanced oral "Developing Chinese". One the whole, the arrangement of projects of idioms are appropriate to some extent. With students’ Chinese level improving, the number of idioms is increasing, and most of idioms are practical. Those idioms are from widely sources and have diverse structures and the way idioms presented is vivid and complete. Materials payed attention to the repetition rate, and its problem sets are comparatively comprehensive. Nevertheless, there is still some room for improvement in the textbook. Idioms’ interpretation accuracy is not enough, the examples are too little, and the repetition should be paid more attention.The third part carries on the questionnaire survey to the students who use this set of textbooks, and the analysis of survey results. The questionnaire mainly inspects the students’Chinese base, the thoughts for the textbooks, the idioms’teaching methods and effects, the current situation of mastering idioms. Count and analyse the survey results, sum up the actual problems of students in the idioms learning, comments on the advantages and disadvantages of this set of teaching materials in the idioms’projects.The fourth part puts forward some specific teaching suggestions from the aspects of students, teachers, teaching materials and teaching methods on the basis of the analysis of the idiom items and the actual teaching investigation. Students should value the idiom learning and take part in conversations to master how to use idioms; teachers should guide students to learn actively and use idioms; textbooks should pay attention to improve the rationality and scientific nature of idiom items’ arrangement; teaching methods should be flexibly used during teaching, to cultivate students’ initiative and enthusiasm in learning and using idioms. |
