The Study Of Yangjiang Dialect

Yangjiang city is located in the southwest of Guangdong Province which uses Yangjiang dialect. Because of Baiyue once living here, Yangjiang dialect is similar to Kam-Tai language in some language phenomenons. Besides, contact-ing with Hakka dialect and Minnan dialect frequently, Yangjiang dialect has assimilated some characteristics of Hakka and Minnan as well, which make Yangjiang dialect very differ from other Cantonese and form its own unique style. This thesis chooses Jiangcheng for the delegate, attempting to describe and analyze the pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar of the Yangjiang dialect com-prehensively on the basis of previous studies as possible. Besides, discusing the differences between Yangjiang dialect and Guangzhou dialect. It aims to reveal the whole face and the process of historical evolvement of Yangjiang dialect, and providing the language materials for the relegation of Yangjiang dialect, promoting the researches of Liangyang Cantonese.This thesis has five chapters. In Chapter one, it mainly introduces the overview of Yangjiang city, the research condition of Yangjiang dialect and the description of this thesis. The second, third and fourth chapter respectively introduces the pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar of Yangjiang dialect. Chapter two describes the phonetic system of Yangjiang dialect, summaries the phonetic features of Yangjiang dialect and compares the phonetic of Yangjiang dialect with the phonetic of ancient Chinese and Guangzhou dialect. Chapter three shows the similarities and differences of vocabulary between Yangjiang and Guangzhou dialect. Chapter four introduces the lexical and syntax of Yangjiang dialect, and analyzing the similarities and differences of Yangjiang and Guangzhou dialect briefly. Finally it makes a summary of this thesis, and some questions will be proposed for further research.
