Located in South East Asia’s easten coastland, Vietnam is a South East Asia country in geographical location. However, related to sphere of gong cultural influence, Vietnamese cultural, religion, ideology and social system are actually influenced by China. In 1300 years of feudal system, the institution of court music is one of development vehicles of court music, which cannot be lack of in cultural system, the state of its musicians, pentatonic scale, function etc. directly reflect court music’s prosperity and decline.Vietnamese institution of court music in historical materials has various kinds, about twelve kinds. This thesis mainly study Vietnamese institution of court music in Chinese vassal state period, all divided into three periods of time, ten kinds in total:Hau Le dynasty’s Dong Van Thu, Nha Nhac Thu, Giao Phuong Ty, Ba Lenh Doi; early stage of Nguyen dynasty’s Nha Nhac Ty. Tieu Hau Doi, Viet Tuong Doi, Nguyen Thi Ba Lenh Doi; middle stage of Nguyen dynasty’s Hoa Thanh Thu, Thanh Binh Thu, Ky Co Ty. These kinds of court music’s institution had been changed three times:early stage of Hau Le dynasty-restoration period of Hau Le dynasty, restoration period of Hau Le dynasty-early stage of Nguyen dynasty, early stage of Nguyen dynasty-middle stage of Nguyen dynasty, the extent and scope of each time is different, therefore the reason of changes are not completely same. Divided into two chapters, the thesis gave a brief account of Vietnamese court music’s institution and its changes, the first chapter overview of Vietnamese institution of court music, the second chapter sort out institution of court music and overall context. Through the description of these two chapters, attempt to sort out historical Vietnamese institution of court music and its changes, thereby describe the prosperity and decline of 15th-19th century’s Vietnamese institution of court music, made a humble contribution in researching Vietnamese ancient court music.
