| Simultaneous interpretation is now widely used to facilitate international conferences, because it is highly efficient translation, which enables audience to gain translated information without interrupting speakers. But this time-saving interpretation also makes interpreters strictly limited by time, memory, attention allocation, understanding of source text and a swift transition to target text. This thesis is the report on the author’s simulated practice of interpreting keynote speeches at an international forum. Before the simulated practice, the author particularly reads academic articles related with Skopos Theory and learns the three rules of the theory. In the practice, the author tries to apply coping strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory, which mainly include literal translation, free translation, amplification and simplification. These strategies will be analyzed in the report. Through the analysis, the author will try to find possible ways to improve her own Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation in the future. |
