Due to geographical advantages, most Central Asian students looking to study Chinese choose to come to Xinjiang, however, they are unfamiliar with Chinese learning strategies. The Survey of Intermediate Chinese level Central Asian students aims to help students to find appropriate and effective Chinese learning strategies, so as to improve the outcome of their educational efforts.Employing the research methods of questionnaire investigation and interview,we conducted a survey with the Intermediate Chinese level Central Asian students learning Chinese in Xinjiang as our respondents with the research focus of investigating their learning strategies. We had further discussion as to the relationship between learning achievement, learning motivation, mother tongue, gender and Chinese learning strategies. The survey found that the Intermediate Chinese level Central Asian students often use meta cognitive strategies, social strategies and compensation strategies, while the frequency of cognitive strategies, memory strategies and emotional strategies proved to be relatively low. Used in the least frequency was found to be the emotional strategy. There was found to be a significant correlation between learning achievement and total strategies, memory strategies, cognitive strategies, compensation strategies, meta cognitive strategies, between mother tongue and cognitive strategies, while there was no significant correlation between learning motivation, gender and all Chinese learning strategies. Finally, this paper puts forward some suggestions for teaching Chinese to Central Asian students, with the hope of providing helpful suggestions to both the teachers and Central Asian learners.
