Aresearch On The Legal Service System Of Guangdong Women’s Prison

In many western countries, providing legal services for prionsers has already became anessential aspect in prison management. When prisoners consulting on criminal, civil andadministrative issues，they can engage lawyers according the regulations, make some legalservices, and let lawyers prviding the sevices. Prisoners have the right to meeting lawyers inprison, fulfillng the related legal formalities, and defending their rights by lawyers’ legalservices.In China, with the development of the system of prison management and the practice ofprison work, the prisoners have been included in the legal aid scope of judicial relief. Due tothe limits of prison property, legal services meet many difficulties. As a special group, femaleprisoners have lots of unique aspects in identities and psychological characteristics, theirdemand for legal sevices are more strongly.This paper combing the reality of Guangdong Women’s prison, deconstructing thecurrent legal services for prisoners, finding the problems and analyzing them, finallypresenting suggestions of improvement, which including perfect the legal sevice system,standardize the business services, construct the information platform etc. The aim is toconstruct a more excellent legal service system, defend prisoners’ right, improve prisoners’awareness of executing, cognizing and abiding the law, actualize the safety supervision inprison and reduce the re-crime rate.This paper surrounding the theme of construction of Guangdong Women’s prison’s lawservice system, discusses from four aspects. The first apart is to define the connotation oflegal service and prisoners’ legal service, express the meaning, research conents and researchmethods. The second apart is to analyze features and values of prison’s legal service,introduce and analyze some related methods in western countries, and find some usefulmethods. The third apart deconstructing the current legal services in Guangdong Women’sprison, comparative analyzing the present situation and needs, finding the problems andanalying the causes. The last apart, offering proposals for the Guangdong Women’s prison’slegal service.
