The Elderly Pension Problems Research Of The Rural "Empty Nest" Of Henan Province

In the background of China’s aging of population, a large number of rural surplus labors migrated into large cities due to the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, thus resulting in the weakening of family support function and the weakening of family pension consciousness. At the same time, owing to inadequate health insurance, medical assistance system and endowment insurance system in the countryside, Empty Nesters faced many serious problems: lack of material guarantee, basic living security and spiritual comfort from their children, and high economic pressure.In The thesis, on the basis of interview survey, focuses on the Chinese rural supporting problem and forming reasons by citing Empty Nesters in Henan province as entry point and rural Empty Nesters in Xiaohe, Hebi as research foundation. A large amount of relevant literature, literature research and field study contribute to this thesis. Besides, this thesis proposes solutions and advice to solving Empty Nester problem from the prospective of dramatic shift of rural traditional family structure, taking into the factors of family planning, the aging of population, rural labor force drain and urbanization. Nowadays, an increasing number of rural labor forces migrate into cities for employment and education, which result in more Empty Nesters accompanied by lower living standard. It not only brings pressure to the family, but also hinder the development of social economy. Therefore, to solve the rural Empty Nester problem is imminent and rural supporting problem will be an important problem in the following years. What’s more, this problem will affect the the construction of new countryside. This thesis, based on literature analysis and case interview, combines the status quo of this problem at home and abroad with the unique characteristic of Henan, reveals the core factors of rural supporting problem in Henan province and propose the point of views and solutions. Extensive attention of all circles of the society are expected to pay attention to this problem and government policies are expected to be issued by the government to solve the rural supporting problem. At the same time, government should advocates endowment insurance and medical assistance system, develop rural economy, encourage migrant workers to return home and start business, consequently giving those Empty Nesters a happy and meaningful later life.
