At present, with the deep development of the new curriculum reform and 3G wireless network technologies, traditional classroom can’t meet the needs of English learning, so new ways of learning, such as mobile learning and educational games, have aroused widespread concern. Learning applications on the phone appear one after another and have become a focus of study.Although the phone is highly mobile, portable and high-penetration, but mobile phone has some defects:small screen, limited memory and data processing capacity. Therefore, in mobile learning applications, it should be operated easily with minimal input, and its learning content should be short and sweet, micro modular, not too complicated, and its learning time should be short. All these cause certain difficulties such as resource organization and learning behavior monitoring of learning applications on mobile phones. Meanwhile, online learning on cell phone needs of high fees for students. This adds difficulties to system interactive mode.Based on the research of main learning systems on phone, in this paper we analyze the major problems, and then in view of the current status of learning systems on phone, we propose and implement game-based English learning system based on semi-connected model. The main work of this article is as follows.(1)This paper researches concepts and theories related to game learning system and sum up the technologies such as 3G, Java ME and embedded data storage technology used in the system development process.(2) This paper researches key technologies of mobile game learning system. First, we will discuss the characteristics of mobile phone and its applications. And then we propose semi-join C/S interaction model with on-demand connection for mobile game learning system. Under this interactive model we research two key issues:the hierarchical organization and embedded storage mechanism of micro learning resources, the method of online user behaviors monitoring.(3) It researches the design and implementation of game English learning system. First we analyze this system’s functional requirements and general idea, and then we detail design system architecture, functional module, game content and database. After that we will implement these functional main modules, such as online user monitoring, organization and storage of server resources, network transmission of micro-media resource, automatically updating of game platform, online users’ log and the playing shrew game. Then we will test system’ performance and make optimization.The special features of this paper lie in:We propose a semi-connected model for mobile phone game-based learning system, and use game room mode to organize learning resources, and monitor students’ learning behavior. The game-based learning system is cross-platform and can update automatically.
