Geography is closely related to people’s life and production."Learning usefulgeography to life","learning geography beneficial for life development " is an ideaadvocated by the new geography standards, which affirmed the close contractbetween geography and life. But in actual teaching, because of the impact ofexam-oriented education, it is a wide phenomenon that teaching activities are isolatedto students’ life in the high school geography teaching, the teacher thinks onlyeducation has seriously hindered the students’ subjectivity. Before students learninggeography in junior high school, they have already had some life experience and theirpsychology and thought were developed rapidly, so the geography teaching back tolife is suited to them. The geography teaching materials are taken from daily life injunior high school, which is suitable for teaching contents to return to life. Combiningteaching with life can make the class efficient, and have students apply theirknowledge to life and bring up their learning and living skills. Thus, this paper drewand analyzed the research status, theory basis and problems of junior high schoolgeography teaching abroad, meanwhile it researched geography teaching back to lifein the class.Firstly, this paper expounded the significance of geography teaching back to lifefrom the research at home and abroad; secondly, it discussed the theory basis of thejunior high school geography teaching back to life by quoting Tao Xingzhi’s lifeeducation theory and constructive theory as the theoretical support. Next, it analyzedthe feasibility of geography teaching back to life in junior high school. Students havehad some life experience and their psychological characteristics was specific, imagic,and emotional. It was suitable to carry out the geography teaching back to life,because the materials in students’ books came from life. Finally, based on theoriesabove and the geography standards, we should practice like these three aspects in theclass,①Teachers dug out the life geographic contents in the books, and connectedteaching with living.②For different contents,teachers used different teachingmethods to realize teaching back to life, such as inquiry-based teaching, situational teaching, case teaching, research study and discussing teaching, etc.③By designinghomework and arranging survey activity, our teaching effect may be back to life.The practice showed that geography teaching back to life had changed the traditional"teachers speaking only " model and improved the students’ interest in geographylearning, students changed passive acceptance to active learning. And it also foundthat there are some deficiencies in practice, that is, life materials mainly came fromweb sites, teaching practice was limited in class, and the subjectivity of students havenot been fully showed, etc.which should be further improved.
