In recent years, the Lexical Chunks have been adopted as a new pedagogical perspective intoresearches of language teaching. The lexical chunks, as the smallest unit of language input, memory,storage and output, possess both vocabulary and grammatical feature. They can be stored in human’smemory system as a unified whole and be extracted directly when necessary. What’s more, they have avery broad application prospect in English writing. The application of the lexical chunks in English writingcan increase language processing efficiency, ease effectively the students’ pressure in time-limitedcomposition, help them overcome negative transfer from their mother tongue, and finally improve thelearners’ ability to write a composition more fluently, accurately and vividly.Specific questions are as follows:(1) Can the lexical chunks approach enhance the students’ lexicalchunks awareness?(2) Can the lexical chunks approach improve the high school students’ English writingperformance?(3) Can the lexical chunks approach improve the students’ writing interest and theirautonomous learning ability in English writing?In this study, the author adopts the lexical chunks teaching into “process writing”, while guiding thestudents to identify, internalize and accumulate lexical chunks, in order to explore a new method of raisingthe students’ ability of English writing through the bridge of “lexical chunks” between input and output ofwriting language. Meanwhile, the author guides consciously the students to learn lexical learning strategy,which can enhance their lexical chunks awareness and improve their writing ability.The results of the research show that:1) The application of lexical chunks can enhance effectively thestudents’ lexical chunks awareness. In the experiment, the author helps the students identify the lexicalchunks, summarize and accumulate them and use actively the lexical chunks in writing, which strengthenthe students’ lexical chunks awareness.2) The application of lexical chunks can raise obviously the seniorhigh learners’ ability of writing. Through the experiment, the students’ writing performance in EC isobvious higher than in CC.3) The application of the lexical chunks can effectively level up the students’interest in writing and their autonomous learning ability in English writing. The lexical chunks learningstrategies the students in the experimental stages influence the students’ writing attitudes and enhance theirlearning motivation and self-confidence so that they are full of desire for cultivating their autonomouslearning ability and fulfillment for English writing.The implications from the study are: the teacher should strengthen the learning strategy training of the lexical chunks and cultivate the students’ autonomous learning ability. In addition, the teacher shouldincrease and enrich the training activities of the lexical chunks output and cultivate the students’ lexicalchunks formation ability...
