This paper researches on the application of life education to geography teachingat senior high school, aiming to seek the answers to the following questions:1)Analyze the advantages of applying life education to geography teaching atsenior high school.2)Combing the PEP Geography textbooks of required1、2、3to ifnd out thematerials related to life education.3)Research on the present situation of the application of life education to highschool geography teaching, hoping to find out the reasons and analyses to them.4)Propose proper ways of applying life education to high school geographyteaching, promoting the link of this theory and the practice of geography teaching.This paper introduces the current situation of life education in some foreigncountries and Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the mainland with the theoretical basis ofMarx’s life philosophy of life values, modern humanism psychology. By using themethods of questionnaire and interview, the survey is carried out in three senior highschools: Jiangyin No.l middle school, Chenghua Senior High School and ZhutangSenior High School and the interview is conducted among the teachers in these3schools. The results are compared and analyzed, after which some conclusions areachieved. First, the form of life education students like is not consistent with that thegeography teachers adopt in the teaching process. Secondly, there is a gap betweenthe teach“erscompetence in life educating and the demands of the students. Third,students should make life education from theory to practice. Fouth, student survivalskills need to be improved. The last one is that students’ sense and values of life needto guide.Based on the findings of the survey, the author proposes that the students’ senseof life can be aroused through methods of experiencing, enjoying the discussion,writing and internalization, random teaching and inquiry learning. Besides,students’sun ival skills can be improved with some activities, such as special lectureson disaster survival skills and fire escape drills, social practice.
