Research On Cityadolescents’ Sport Involvement And Its Relationship With The Family Social Capital

As a new research field and the view of adolescent development，social capital theoryshowing a strong vitality, sport involvement is an integral part of youth development, andfamily plays an important role in the development. Domestic researches on adolescents’sports participation is mostly in described area adolescents’ sports participation situation orexplore the effect of family environment, on the other hand, research based on therelationship between family social capital and adolescents’ sport involvement is rare. Thisresearch was based on social capital theory and the family social capital perspective, researchsocial capital and its impact on the China city adolescents’ sport involvement. Used The《movement of expectancy and value scale--children and youth version》work values scale,《physical activity scale-Youth Version》(PAQ-A) and the self-made《questionnaire offamily social capital》as tools,3500adolescents from9National City as research samples,tested reliability and validity of the measurement tool,described characteristics of the Cityadolescents’ sport involvement and family social capital, and analyzed the influence of familysocial capital on city adolescents’ sport involvement. After the data processing and analysis,conclusions were as follows:(1)《movement of expectancy and value scale--children and youth version》 workvalues scale were found that internal consistency reliability and internal validity is good;《PAQ-A》were showed that internal consistency reliability and criterion related validity isvery good.(2)《questionnaire of family social capital》were found with good internal consistencyreliability and construct validity.(3) Characteristics of City adolescents’ sport involvement and family social capital were:male’s levels of sports participation, sports cognition and emotion is significantly higher thanfemale’s; low grade middle school students’sports participation, sports cognition and emotionis significantly higher than that of senior middle school students’; non key middle schooladolescents’ sports participation, sports cognition and emotion are higher than key secondaryschool adolescents’; social capital within the family from non key middle school adolescentswere significantly higher than those from key middle school youth; with both adolescents’ sport involvement or family social capital, adolescents living in the city of higher economiclevel was significantly higher than that of living in low economic level city.(4) The family social capital had significant effect on the city adolescents’ sportinvolvement. Through correlation analysis, the family social capital dimensions andadolescents’ sport involvement in all dimensions were significantly positive correlation,stepwise regression analysis showed that social capital within the family is a favorableprediction factors to adolescents’ sports cognition and emotion; social capital within thefamily, and the social capital outside the family is the most favorable factors directly predictcity adolescents’ participation in sports.
