A Study On The Construction And Development Strategy Of Jiyuan In Henan Province As A Basketball City

With the rapid popularization and development of basketball and theimplementation of the National Fitness Program, General Administration of Sportlaunched an activity of establishing “National Basketball City” in the late1900s toimprove the influence of basketball in China, mine the professional basketball talents,set up a standardized and specialized basketball reserve personnel base and to adoptto competitive sports reform. The successive selection of Jiyuan and Jiaozuo inHenan province lays a solid foundation of the development of basketball in Henan. Asthe basketball develops rapidly at home and abroad, the development of basketball inHenan also is faced with the continuous improvement and adjustment under the newsituation. Through the thorough investigations and studies of the “National BasketballCity” in Jiyua, Henan province, this research tries to find out the problems anddifficulties to propose some relevant views and suggestions of Henan basketball’sdevelopment and reform.This paper dose a detailed research on Jiyuan as a “National Basketball City” ineconomy, culture, educational background, history, management status and thepresent situation of basketball sports by employing a variety of research methods.Besides, it also puts forward some constructive suggestions of promoting thesustainable development to further advance the construction of Jiyuan as basketballcity. The results indicate there exits the following main problems:1. The lack of full-time coach and the young basketball talents.2. The lagging management model3. The lack of continuous support of constructing the “Basketball City” fromgovernment4. The need to further enhance the high-level events5. The high basketball ticket price.
