With the promulgation of the "geographic full-time compulsory educationcurriculum standards (trial version)", geography teaching carried out a larger reform.in the course content, teaching content, the cultivation of the students’ ability andteaching evaluation value the role of geography images. Image as an important part ofteaching materials, play an important proportion in the teaching materials. Comparedwith the text, which has the characteristics of vivid, whether for students’ learning andteachers’ teaching have an irreplaceable role. Research on image teaching not onlyembodies the geography discipline of uniqueness, but to optimize the teachingprocess, improve teachers’ teaching ability, cultivate the students’ skills.In this paper, the image system of the jin version junior high school geography asthe research object,by the questionnaire survey and interviews to understand thesituation and problems of the current image teaching. The main problems are:teachers’ understanding of image teaching, and the problems of application of imageteaching, combined with the existing problems, with the more proportion of maps as acase, for example maps geographical landscapes, geographical maps. From theattempt to cultivate students’ interest, changing the way of image teaching, imagerendering mode to put forward the strategies of the junior high school geographyimage teaching. The article structure is as follows:This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction, mainly elaborated the origin and background ofresearch, the content and method, the purpose and meaning, the theoretical foundationof the research.The second part with the literature search method to understand the current statusof research teaching geography image. Mainly from the study of the concept ofgeography images, studies of geographic image classification, studies of the role ofgeography image in teaching from three aspects, organize the documents, writing theresearch reviews. The third part classify the image of teaching material, and statistical distributionproportion of all kinds of images in the teaching material, expounded thecharacteristics of the images and the role of the image in the textbooks.The fourth part through the questionnaire investigation and interviews to analyzethe current of the image teaching.And from two aspects of teachers’ understandingand the application of the image teaching analyze the problems.The fifth part combining with the teaching case, elaborated the strategy of imageteaching. Mainly from the application of image to import new lesson, the training ofteacher’s professional, improve the teaching ability, etc. Providing some suggestionsand references for the lack of awareness and image of teachers teaching capacityissues that exist in the image.
