As an important aspect of social mobility, intergenerational mobility is closely related to the direction and quality of economic and social development in our country. Social mobility is usually referred to as the changes of people’s social status. Intergenerational mobility reflects changes of children’s social status comparing with the parents’ Social status often depends on the comprehensive effect of personal occupation., income, and political power. Presently, researches at home and abroad on intergenerational occupation mobility have got some achievements Foreign research shows that to some extent, parents’occupation has direct and indirect effect on children’s occupation. Sometimes parents directly seek jobs for their children, or provide some indirect help in the process of choosing jobs. So, parents’ occupation is an indispensable influencing factor to their children’s. At present, the domestic study on occupation of mtergenerational mobility focuses more on theories and models There is limited researches take authoritative and micro data as their support. Based on the data of The China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (hereinafter referred to as CHARLS),this paper takes the oeeupation as a starting point. The study of mtergenerational occupation mobility aims to explore the social mtergenerational mobility deeper through analysis on occupational mtergenerational mobility.The research approach here is as follows First of all, this paper makes classified research on theories related to the occupation of intergenerational mobility mechanism from aspects of economic capital, social capital and human capital. Secondly, after the comprehensive treatment on CHARLS data, it makes descriptive analysis with the help of a plurality of flow index And then through the analysis of occupation intergenerational mobility data it concludes that differences exist universally in intergenerational mobility of occupation, including gender differences, time differences, registered residence differences and education differences. Finally, the research draws Factors and mechanism of the effect of parents’ occupation on the ones of the children by single variable linear regression and order logit of data analysis. Furthermore,it Summarizes the current situation of China’s intergenerational mobility of occupation is overall upward. What’s more. gender, education, place of residence, registered residence and age are the main factors which affect the individual’s own intergenerational mobility of occupation. And the influence of occupation of mothers" contributes more compared to that of fathers’.
