Language transfer refers to the phenomenon that learners are using a second language, and they often draw support from their native language’s pronunciation, meaning, structure, rules or habits to express themselves in the second language learning. If the rules of mother tongue language and foreign language are consistent, the rules of the native language transfer would have positive effects on the target language. That is called positive transfer. Negative transfer means if the rules of mother tongue can not conform to the habits of the foreign language, it has negative effects on the target language. The Chinese middle school students are in a native Chinese living environment that they strongly master the Chinese language rules and have their own ways of thinking. Thus there will inevitably appear language transfer in the process of learning a second language.With the increasingly frequent international exchanges, the ability of using for communication are more and more important. As we all know, vocabulary is the foundation of language building, if no words, it is hard for us to achieve the communication and usage of language; besides, vocabulary is so large, flexible and difficult to master. So students are easily influenced by their mother tongue and make errors. The study on vocabulary, especially on the negative transfer of the junior high school students vocabulary teaching is less, so the thesis will focus on studying the influence of negative transfer of mother tongue in the aspect of vocabulary and solve the following two questions:(1)How many vocabulary errors are caused by negative transfer of mother tongue in the Junior Middle School English teaching? And how much proportion they occupy?(2)What is the correlation between the scores of English and the vocabulary errors caused by negative transfer of mother tongue?The thesis, based on the transfer theory, contrastive analysis theory and error analysis theory, conduct the questionnaire and vocabulary test to the96students of Grade9which from Fang Shuquan Middle School in Tongbai, Class2is experimental group while Class3is control group, collect the data and analyses the types of vocabulary errors that caused by negative transfer of mother tongue in the junior middle school English teaching. Through the EXCEL2013and SPSS21.0software’s analysis, we know that, there are two main aspect of vocabulary errors are caused by negative transfer of mother tongue:the error of word class and the error of meaning; the more the errors that caused by negative transfer of mother tongue, the lower the scores of the English. They are negative correlation.The vocabulary errors caused by negative transfer of mother tongue can not be completely avoided, so the thesis devotes to study the types of vocabulary errors caused by negative transfer and teaching targeted, as far as possible to reduce the influence of negative transfer, put forward some suggestions to improve the ability of middle school students’vocabulary, actively promote the occur of the positive transfer of mother tongue, so as to improve the English level of middle school students and the learning efficiency.
