As the major institution for cultivating talents, colleges are the implementers ofall-round education and character building, which is why college physical education isnow undergoing a reform where students can choose the type of sports upon their owninterest. Among the many PE optional courses, Ping-Pong is a popular choice.However, traditional Ping-Pong instructions no longer fit the PE reform, given thediversity of college students and the new role of college physical education. Some ofthe significant new roles that link college physical education to social requirementsinclude: meeting the demands of the ever-changing society, helping students tore-perceive physical education as a gateway to healthy living and enjoyment, andbetter preparing students for opportunities for further development.In the present dissertation, the practice of multi-dimensional education isanalyzed and discussed, based on the essence of college education and physicalpedagogy, to explore the possibilities that Ping-Pong optional courses can contributeto all-round education, and to prompt the continuous pedagogic innovation, develop amultidisciplinary interactivity and bring Ping-Pong optional courses into play indeveloping students’ overall capabilities, enriching their humanistic capacity andenhancing their optimism and problem-solving abilities. Meanwhile, nurturing teamspirit, creativity and flexibility, together with building an effective platform ofcomprehensive education, is also among the objectives of the this research to facilitatethe country’s development by cultivating more excellent talents.
