The period of the Republic of China is a transitional period of modern Chinese. It started from a revolution, and ended by a war. During those years, there were changeable thoughts, cultural conflicts, and the most important was the responsibility of national rejuvenation and prosperity. In such an environment, modern curriculum standards started to build its own characteristics, which revealed people’s understanding to education of that period. My research selected arts curriculum standards of the primary school as point, through the analysis of the value orientation which reflected out, to explore people’s attitude to education and arts during the period of the Republic of China. The research mainly divided into the following five parts:The first part,is an introduction to the main reason and related research literaturefor the discussion topic of this research.It’s the basic of the main part.The second part, mainly combs the historic background and the development of the arts curriculum standard during the Republic of China. While this part is based on the most influential three aspects which are the politics, economy and culture.Which is also as the value orientation combing, and its development is also accomplished with the influence of these background.The third part, emphatically analyzes the elementary school fine arts curriculum standard during the period of the Republic of China’s four major value orientation, namely, practical orientation, aesthetic orientation, children’s orientation and life orientation, they come from the elementary school fine arts curriculum standard and the education of the Republic of China, social evaluation on them, finally this study thinks that the four kinds of orientation, although there is a certain time and space development order, but in fact they mix with each other through the value orientation of the elementary school fine arts curriculum standard features of the Republic of China, so that the elementary school fine arts curriculum standard in our country has a trend of diversification development.The fourth part, mainly combed the value orientation of the elementary school arts curriculum standard of the Republic of China in the process of implementation, this is actually a process of change, we can see from the implementation of curriculum standard under different value orientation of curriculum development, etc, the influence of its change let us seems to be in a more scientific and perfect curriculum standard.The fifth part is from the past to the future, we can considerate about the future of the arts education in the primary school from the value orientation during the period of the Republic of China. Cause the research showed us that the future of the elementary school arts curriculum standard should be able to make elementary school arts education more dynamic and have some educational characteristics, and then reached to an orderly multi-dimensional value orientation direction.The ultimate goal of this study is to make a reflection on the ideal value orientation of primary school art curriculum standard in the future which based on the combination of the history and reality.
