As the largest girls’organization of extension education, Girl Scouts of The USA(GSUSA) was founded in 1912 by Juliette Low who brought the scouting movement of Robert Baden-Powell back to America. Juliette Low modified GSUSA according to her views of female education and made it an American style organization. Since it came into being, GSUSA has set its mission as cultivation of independent women who adapted to the development of times. In more than one hundred years, it created a set of curricula involving the practice of profesional skills, physical fitness, moral character, female consciousness, female leadership and so on. The beginning of its history was in a period when the thought of gender equality spread due to the first wave of feminism in American society. And the following second and third waves shocked the traditional gender conception, which greatly changed the situations of female education. In this social background, GSUSA gradually got rid of the pressure of traditional views and found its own development approach. The aim at cultivation of housewives was weakened and nowadays the mission of GSUSA is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Indenpedence and citizenship are emphasized in its educational objectives; girl-led, cooporative and hands-on activities are fetures of its educational methods; and outdoor experiences, STEM and leadership journeys are the main focuses of its educational programs. All of these can be used as reference in girl education in our country. And the extention education of girls should be explored in the future.
