For a long time, influenced by test-oriented education, information technology as a minor subject is difficult to attract the attention of the students, the motivation of learning information technology is generally low, but with the rapid development of information technology, the subject status of information technology is becoming more and more important, information technology as an elective subject of college entrance exam will be the first to achieve in Zhejiang. The new IT curriculum standard of senior high school takes fostering the student’s information literacy as its aim, regard student as main body, advocate independence cooperation and to explore a new approach of learning, emphasis the initiative of students. Therefore, students’ motivation level is directly related to the learning of information technology course. ARCS motivation model was put forward by the famous American psychologist John Keller, trigger and maintain students’ motivation as the core to design the entire teaching, consistent with the concept of the new curriculum standard of information technology in Senior High School. This research takes the ARCS motivation model as the basis to study the instructional design and practice of information technology class in senior high, school. Firstly, this paper summarizes the related research on the theory and application of ARCS model at home and abroad. Analyzes the aim, content and course of information technology curriculum in senior high school from the perspective of the motivation. Secondly, discusses the design principles of information technology on classroom teaching from the perspective of ARCS model. And on this basis, analysis and design of teaching objectives, teaching process, learning environment, teaching evaluation and other teaching elements to construct the model of teaching process of information technology classroom which is based on ARCS model. The model consists of four parts, including activities before teaching, content presentation, learning participation and application evaluation, students set up the attention and experience the fun of learning in the activities before teaching; establishing correlation and stimulating learning motivation In the content presentation phase; complete the task to build self-confidence, strengthen learning motivation in Learning participation link; the process of application and evaluation, students establish correct attribution, satisfaction, maintain learning motivation. Thirdly, according to the teaching process model, analyze and design the information technology class in high school and selection the high information technology curriculum to teaching practice. Through the preliminary analysis, design teaching objectives, teaching process, learning environment, learning evaluation, etc. And then put the plan into practice. Finally, collection, collect the experimental results statistic and analyze the data. The results showed that, applying ARCS motivation model to the classroom of information technology in Senior High School, the reasonable arrangement of each teaching link can help students take control of the learning process, students’ learning is always in an active and happy state, improve the overall level of motivation of students (at the motivation level of confidence and satisfaction level increase especially),and students’ performance has a obvious increase.
