Wireless multimedia sensor networks plays a pivotal role in modern life, it has gone deep into the military, industrial, commercial, etc, and it facilitates people’s life and work. Comparing with traditional wireless sensor network, it handles a relatively larger amount of multimedia information data, and the processing power and bandwidth of it is relatively higher, which makes the problem of QoS guarantee it faced more difficulty.3G network has different characteristics comparing to WiFi network and zigbee network, its main feature is that transmission delay is big and transmission bandwidth is limited. In such a network, we need to consider QoS guarantee caused by the transmission delay, bandwidth limitation.In view of research requirements and the growing importance of wireless multimedia sensor networks, the topic of this thesis is the QoS of wireless multimedia sensor networks based on 3G.In this paper, the main content includes:(1)This paper investigates and researches the development of wireless multimedia sensor networks,analyzes the current research status of QoS of traditional wireless multimedia sensor networks and QoS of wireless multimedia sensor networks based on 3G.(2)Combining with characteristics of H.264, this paper proposes video transmission scheme based on H.264. The system contains server,3G network and client. The author implements video capturing module and H.264 encoding module on client, implements video decoding module and image displaying module on server. Finally, according to the characteristics of 3G network, the author designs and implements video transmission method based on TCP protocol and video transmission method based on UDP protocol. The two video transmission methods are compared based on the experimental result, and the author analyzes their advantages and disadvantages.(3) Combining with the characteristics of 3G network, this paper proposes the multi-path transmission strategy based on 3G network. The strategy contains three main phases, which are forwarding preparation phase, real-time forwarding phase and forwarding termination phase.Then the author implements the multi-path transmission strategy on Tiny6410 platform. Experimental result shows video transmission efficiency will be doubled on WCDMA network if a single node is used to help video data forward.
