This paper takes the southeast of Sichuan as an example. Based on the geological data of the study area, it describes the progress of modern remote sensing's application in oil and gas exploration. According to the characteristics of lithology, strata, structure, it makes the technical route. This paper expounds the remote sensing image processing, drawing process in detail. It also discusses the theory of alteration anomalies, oil and gas microseepage.Through the geological structural interpretation of study area, this paper get 54 faults, 722 joints and 136 ring structure. The faults is mainly in NNE and NNW. The number of big ring structure is more than small ring structure. The biggest ring structure's diameter is 15 km. And the smallest is 1km. The linear and ring structure is tagent or intersective.Using the calculation of band between images, it makes TM5/TM7, TM5/TM4 and TM1/TM3 ratio processing. Finally got the abnormal information map carbonation, clay mineralization, red fading information. The abnormal area mainly along the fracture around the annular structure and distribution. There are larger area on line and ring structure. The abnormal area is mainly debris, punctate distribution in the area of known oil and gas reservoirs.Based on the anomaly extraction's achievements, this paper analyses the relation between the known mineralization points and petroleum geological conditions. Finally it finds 8 favorable oil and gas exploration area, such as Wanjiagang-Masangmiao area, Lingxiao-Chicun area, Shiqiao-Huilong area, Longdongchang-Gangcun area, Touduzhen area, Qiaoshang-Shatian area and Zhennan-Maotian area.
