In the 21 st century, the geological drilling technology has made great progress and the new results and technology are constantly emerging, however the coring technology still needs to develop and improve. Now the more widely used coring methods include reverse circulation coring, tripping coring and wireline coring. In comparison to other methods, the wireline coring technology is a mainstream method with advantages of low frequency of pipe trip, high efficiency of drilling, low cost, less hole accident and so on.The hole depth of geological core drilling is growing, which not only promotes the geological core drilling but also make more severe technical requirements for wireline core drilling technology.Using winch to get the drilling core has been widely recognized in the geological drilling industry. At the same time, the winch has important influence on drilling efficiency, wireline arranging and safety on coring. After more than 40 years development, the wireline coring winch has been widely used and made considerable progress in the field of geological drilling, which has become a very important part of the geological core drilling equipment.The winch, as the main unit for wireline coring, is very important for the geological drilling work. The winch speed determines the coring speed and influences drilling engineering efficiency. Also, the winch lifting capability determines the maximum depth of drilling. So the winch is important for drilling engineering,and the research on the winch structure and properties has great engineering application and research value.In this paper, the overall performance of wireline coring winch is researched,and a wireline core winch for the 4000 meters geological drilling is designed.Aiming to the 4000 m wireline core drilling winch, the paper mainly researches the following aspects: analyzing and optimizing the structure of drum by ANSYS software; implementing wireline automatic arrangement function for 4000 m drilling core winch by PLC control device during fishing;adopting disk type brake for stopping; realizing the automation and intelligentialize through all kinds of sensors.
