Qinghai is one of provinces with frequent earthquake disaster in our country.As the increase of human engineering activities, which damages the fragile ecological environment, kinds of geological disasters occur frequently. The loss brought by geological disasters can be up to tens of billions of yuan. The geological disasters threaten the life security of people. Based on Qinghai Investigation of geological disasters, this paper takes longwu river as the study subject to analyze the risk of geological disaster. Gathering the existing geological materials and combining the disaster investigation results and the high precision remote sensing interpretation, this paper carried out a detailed analysis of the distribution characteristics of geological disaster of the Longwu River,its geological environment condition and formation mechanism. Combined with information model of GIS, this paper zone the risk of geological disaster of the Longwu River. The contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:1. Analysis of the control effect on geological background conditions including topography, geological structure, soil, groundwater of the Longwu River on geological disaster and the effect of the heavy rainfall within the valley,earthquake and human activities on geological disasters; Study in formation mechanism of geological disasters, disaster modes and geological disaster chain effect.2. Making sure that the main controlling factors include hydro geological conditions, geological structure, engineering geological rock formation, slope gradient, slope, terrain-6 evaluation indicators. Zone the risk basing the ArcGis-based information model of the Longwu River.3. Stacking the risk dividing layer and catastrophe pointes layer, we can obtain that catastrophe pointes accord well with division results, which implies that zoning hazard degree of geologic disaster in the Longwu River based on application of information model has its objectivity.
