Rare earth, known as an"industrial vitamin",has become a very important strategic resource, playing an important role in military, metallurgical, agricultural and other aspects.Taking a rare earth mining area as the research object, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the airborne gamma-ray spectrometry measurement data and radiation levels in this area by studying the airborne gamma-ray spectrometry measurement data.A total of more than 6,000 effective spectral lines on 7 measuring lines were studied in rare earth mining area. The first is the analysis of the whole spectrum data, including the study of spectral line normalization characteristics, the initial positioning of radioactive horizontal background area and high value area according to the whole spectrum line.Secondly, potassium, uranium and thorium content were obtained by using the window data. The content of nuclides was obtained by using the traditional gamma-ray spectrometry data processing and some steps were improved. The least square polynomial smoothing method was used to process the spectral line, and the correction factor was introduced in Compton background correction,so as to reduce the zero point of some uranium.Based on MATLAB and C#language,a small program was designed for the measured data of rare earth mining area, and the content diagram was prepared. The following conclusions are drawn from the study:?1?The background area and high value area of the radioactive level can be delineated according to the measured full-spectrum line, and the range is generally consistent with the range defined after the calculated content.?2?For the"low value"problem of airborne gamma-ray spectrum measurement lines, the least square polynomial smoothing method can achieve better results.?3?In Compton scattering correction, the actual calibration values of the correction factors b and g will reduce the negative value of U content after calculation and increase the rationality of the result.?4?The rare earth mining area is rich in radionuclides, with thorium equivalent higher than 150 x 10-6,potassium content ranging from 8%to 17%,and uranium equivalent at 10 x 10-623 x 10-6.In the vicinity of tailings dam, thorium content was higher than the background area, while potassium and uranium content were not different from the background area.
