With the rapid development of national economy recently,the demands for energy and minerals are increasing.As the main means of transport in large open mineral mine,the market for the mining dump trucks is increasing.In order to change the situation where the most of mines relied on the imported mining dump truck in a long time,it is urgent to develop the mining dump truck with independent intellectual property.The mining dump truck is always working under the poor conditions all years.The structural performances of the mining truck have higher requirements.As one of the most important parts of the mining dump truck, the rear axle housing's strength,modal characteristics and fatigue life play a decisive role on the truck's quality.In this paper, the numerical simulation and analysis of the performances of the rear axle housing was carried by using technologies including of multi-body dynamics simulation, finite element analysis and fatigue life analysis.1.The Rigid-flexible Coupled dynamics model of the truck which contains the rear axle housing's flexible body is built to run on E-class road.The exactness of the model is verified by the road acceleration test.The force curves of the jionts linked to the rear axle housing are exported under four conditions for MDT.2.The finite element analysis model of the rear axle housing is built.According to the result of the dynamic analysis,the static strength characteristics of the rear axle housing under four load conditions are analyzed.The stress distribution and displacement distribution are obtained.what's more,the natural frequencies and corresponding modes are gained by modal analysis.The relationship between the response of the dangerous rear axle housing element is obtained by frequency response analysis.3.The load spectrum of the jionts linked to the rear axle housing during the vehicle drive cycle is built.The fatigue life of the rear axle housing under cycle condition and ultimate condition is analyzed based on nominal stress method.The fatigue life under cycle condition is able to meet the requirements,and the dangerous elements are located in the weld seam.4.Finally,the finite element model contained of weld seam is built.Based on the theory of welded structure fatigue, respectively, the “VOLVO”method and the equivalent structural stress method are applied to analyze the fatigue life of the weld seam of the rear axle housing according to the characteristics of the weld seam of the rear axle housing.Then,according to the results of the fatigue life of the weld seam,the structure improvement of the rear axle housing is carried out and the result of the improvement is verified.
