Slope stability of open-pit mine dump is the premise to ensure continuous, efficient production and security of operating personnel, equipment and the surrounding facilities. Evaluate slope stability correctly to nip danger in the bud has great meaning to ensure production and construction and people’s property safety. In this paper, according to the actual situation of north dump Baiyinhua No.1 Open-pit Mine, through on-site research, data collect and theoretical analysis, using the rigid body limit equilibrium method combined with numerical simulation method, the stability of south slope is deeply studied. Based on the analysis of engineering geological conditions and physical and mechanical parameters of rock and soil, the factors influencing the stability of south slope in north dump and the potential landslide model are analyzed. Combined limit equilibrium method and numerical simulation method, the influence of slope angle, slope height, morphology of basement and bedrock to dump slope failure mode and stability is studied. Bottom-up by level dump optimizing method is put forward and morphology optimizing design is carried out on the site of north dump south slope based on this method, and then the slope stability of soil-rock composite slope of north dump south slope and north slope of stope is verified.Research results can show that the landslide model of south slope in north dump is cut layer-bedding layer sliding; 14° degrees for the slope can meet the requirements of safety coefficient; under the current safe distance that composite slope of stope-dump exist landslide risk, to properly increase the safe distanc.
