Regenerative combustion is an energy saving and environmental protection technology,which has important significance in alleviating the energy crisis,improving the environment quality and the effective utilization of fuel and so on.Regenerative burner is the most critical part of this technology.Centering on the resistance characteristics of regenerator and combustion characteristics of regenerative burner,experimental study and numerical simulation have been carried out.At first,the resistance characteristics of ball regenerator are studied by cold model experiment,the effects of gas velocity,diameter of packed ball,height of packed bed and voidage on pressure drop are analyzed,a revised Ergun's equation is draw out.The results showed that the gas resistance drop of packed bed rises with the increase of gas velocity.By making a regression analysis on the resistance coefficient,two coefficients in revised Ergun's equation are obtained,f1=331.9,f2=1.402,respectively.That the modified unit pressure drop value which was obtained after applying the revised resistance coefficient agreed better with the experiment value when compared with other results.Then,the resistance characteristics of air and flue gas in regenerator are simulated by the Fluent software,k-? model,species transport model,and porous media model are used.The results shows:(1)The error is minimum when use the coefficient f1=331.9?f2=1.402 to simulate the unit pressure drop of air.The air pressure drop rises with the increase of gas velocity.The unit pressure drop increases as the ball diameter reduced,or the voidage of packed bed decreased.(2)The unit pressure drop of flue gas rises with the increase of gas velocity.At last,the combustion characteristics of regenerative burner were simulated,by using the Fluent software,choosing k-? model and non-premixed Combustion and DO radiation model.The velocity distribution,the temperature profile and the concentration profile were analyzed by changing of inlet flow of air and gas and preheating temperature.Draw the following conclusions:(1)The flame length increases with the increase of inlet flow of air and gas.When the preheating temperature increases,the highest temperature of flue gas rises from about 1600 K to about 1950 K,the temperature difference of ladle wall and ladle circumferential direction significantly reduces,which indicate that the ladle heating is more uniformity.The high temperature zone of flame is located at the bottom of the ladle,which is beneficial to the baking of bottom of the ladle.(2)Along the length direction of flame,the concentration of CO decreases,the concentration of CO2 increases,the change trend between them is opposite.
