With the rapid development of the textile machinery industry, a variety of new technology is applied in the textile machinery. Although the technology of domestic drawing frame has got notable improvement, there are still many problems restricting its development. Currently, it is a waste of manpower and resources that the drawing frame is still timed to stop for manual cleaning. It is a cleaning defect in air cleaning system of drawing frame.In this paper, the airflow of the drawing frame is analyzed to find some issues in design of air duct structure. Then the solutions are put forward to solve the point of accumulation of cotton in the tunnel. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1)In order to solve the issue of cotton accumulation, the structure of the air duct in air clean system is analyzed based on the principle of drawing frame. The airflow in duct is proved to be turbulence. The computational fluid dynamics is proposed to analyze the airflow in the cleaning system of drawing frame.(2)According to the principle of computational fluid dynamics, and the ANSYS FLUENT software is selected based on the analysis and comparison of the current commonly used CFD software to simulate the airflow in duct. In the process of analysis, the ideal entity model of the air duct in drawing frame cleaning system has been built. Meshing is based on the ideal entity model. The RNG k-epsilon turbulence model is picked by comparative. Through numerical analysis and calculation, the results of airflow simulation in air cleaning system are obtained.(3)According to the results of airflow simulation, the defects that contain the large difference of airflow velocity between the sub-ducts, the dead zone of low flow and the existence of the vortex are analyzed. Then the program of dividing duct and increasing baffle is put forward to improve the air duct structure. And improved program of airflow is simulated. Comparing the results of two programs, the final improvement program is proposed. And then the effect of the research is verified by practical application.In this paper, airflow in cleaning system of the air duct has been analyzed; the reasons of cotton accumulation caused by dead zone and uneven flow rate in the duct have been found out; the effective program which improves the structure of ducts has been put forward. The improvement program can raise the working efficiency of the system, and provide a theoretical basis for the optimization design of the duct structure.
