Painting plays an important role in the manufacturing of Hongmu furniture. However, because of the use of nature lacquer, the traditional painting process has too much shortcomings such as long production cycle, high cost, low efficiency, etc. Whilst a large number of researches have been proposed to explore the modification of nature lacquer, there are little studies focusing on the painting process of nano-modified lacquer.This research used Pterocarpus macaroca as sample material, surveyed and summarized normal painting process of nature lacquer; A new painting lacquer was produced through optimization of produced nano-modified lacquer; By measuring some parameters of the nano-modified lacquer painting film, some trends and a mathematical formula were proposed to find the effect of different painting process on the quality of nano-modified lacquer painting film, which could be a good way for QA to control the quality of Hongmu furniture; The painting films of nano-modified lacquer and nature lacquer were compared to find the advantages and disadvantages of nano-modified lacquer. Specific conclusions are as follows:(1) Compared with nature lacquer, nano-modified lacquer is better in some performances such as high hardness of coating, short time for drying, high adhesion and high compressive strength. By adding a small amount of solvent, some problems of the produced nano-modified lacquer, too short time for drying and poor leveling property was tackled. When the percentage of liquid paraffin was 3.5% and the percentage of IP2028 was 2.5 ‰, these parameters of nano-modified lacquer were best.(2) To some degree, the features of wood can affect the roughness of wood surface but have little effect on the roughness of primer painting film; Different sandpapers used in the step of primer painting can affect the roughness of primer painting film, which can not work in the step of Pihui painting. Through the analysis of variance, the roughness of primer painting film affects the quality of nano-modified painting film well. With the increase of the roughness of primer painting film, the adhesion of nano-modified painting film decreases at first and then increases.(3) When some parameters such as material, temperature and humidity are the same, the coating weight has no effect on the hardness, resistance to heat and cold environment of coating and little effect on the adhesion and abrasive resistance of coating. The coating weight of primer painting lacquer and nano-modified lacquer are inversely proportional to the lightness of nano-modified painting coating. The coating weight of nano-modified lacquer is in direct proportion to the gloss of nano-modified lacquer painting film and with the increase of the coating weight of nano-modified lacquer, the color of nano-modified lacquer painting film turns to red and yellow.In all the parameters selected, the process of using the 240# sandpaper in the step of Pihui painting, the 320# sandpaper in the step of primer painting and painting nano-modified lacquer in one time in the step of finish painting was best, namely, adhesion, the hardness of coating, gloss, etc. were best.
