The earthquake disasters and the vertical floating roof tanks earthquake damage often occurred in recent years.For the special storage media of steel vertical floating roof tanks,the direct impact of disasters and secondary disasters destructive are larger,this make do a good job in seismic and isolation research of storage tank particularly important.Seismic and isolation research of the tank has a long history,has been made very fruitful in the previous efforts.But study on the existing research we can find that most of them ignore the floating roof’s impact,did not consider of the bi-directional ground motion and the nonlinear characteristics of the isolation layer in the course of the study.Therefore,in order to develop and improve the seismic and isolation research of the tank,this paper carried out the following work:(1)Seismic equation of motion of the tank with floating roof to one-way and bi-directional excitation and the isolation movement analysis equation with linear and non-liner isolation layer computational model were given out.(2)Establish different analysis equations consider and don’t consider floating roof.Parameters affect and the comparative analysis were done in the same condition,in order to verify the need for the role of floating roof.(3)The suggestion for selecting isolation layer resilience computing model was given out under the comparative analysis of tank with different isolation layer computational models.(4)A comparative analysis on ten volume tank to bi-directional earthquake excitation was done.And then verify the practical significance for tank design base on the seismic response results of the tank to bi-directional excitation.(5)The recommendations of choosing parameter when tank design was given out base on the summary of analysis and the keys of tank design were given out too.
