The gas pollution produced in the steel workshop furnace is quite severe, especially in the tap hole area. The improper increasing of wind quantity for dedusting will cause serious energy consumption, how to capture dust energy-efficiently becomes a key research direction of the dedusting technology in tap hole area. Because of the large size and high temperature, it is difficult to do experiment research in both Industrial entity and lab. Similarity theory and Computational Fluid Dynamics method were creativity applied in the research of dedusting technology in tap hole area, so that it becomes possible to do experiment research in lab.Firstly, the dust sources were modeled according to similarity theory. The experiment platform was designed based on the modeled parameters. Meanwhile, the flow field distribution of dust was simulated by CFD on the platform of FLUENT software. Different momentum ratios were used to simulate different periods of iron production, the flow field distribution of the tap hole area of all periods was quantitative described.Secondly, by comparing the particle capture efficiency of the presence or absence of curtain, the importance of curtain was proved. With the presence of curtain, the particle capture efficiency of different dust cage height and length was compared,therefore, the best form of dust cage was reached. Under the best form of dust cage, simulations were taken with various wind quantity, the change rules of particle capture efficiency with various wind quantity were studied.Finally, the application of air curtain was studied. It included two parts: first part was used to replace the curtain, various angles and velocities were studied; second part was used to block transverse wind, various locations and velocities were studied. The particle capture efficiency and flow field were compared to get the best application process and the design scheme of gas curtain.
