Kaolin is a natural clay mineral resource that is widely found in nature. It has stable structure, but with high amount of impurities, ion exchange capacity is limited, low reactivity and other shortcomings,in real life, direct utilizable rate is not high. After effectively modified, kaolin has significant prospects to treat heavy metal ions and dye contaminants in wastewater.Adsorption method,Because of large amount of wastewater treatment, simple operation, wide range of use, high removal efficiency, shorter treatment time and non-toxic poisoning, has become an ideal method for polluting wastewater treatment.Using adsorption method of wastewater treatment, selection about adsorption material and preparation is the most core issues. The kaolin modified to improve its adsorption properties,it can be used as a cheap adsorption material. In order to improve the adsorption performance of kaolin and reduce the treatment cost,in this paper, the modification of kaolin was studied, and the influence of modification on its morphology, structure and adsorption properties was discussed.A series of calcined and acid leaching activated kaolin?ACKC?was prepared by modification of kaolin with calcination and sulfuric acid leaching. The effects of calcination temperature and acid leaching on the adsorption performance of Pb???were investigated by XRF,XRD,elemental analysis,BET and CO2-TPD.The results showed that the kaolin?CKC?calcined at different temperatures was significantly not improved adsorption performance about Pb???.The adsorption performance of ACKC to Pb???was improved obviously compared with that of KC after further activation of sulfuric acid.Among them, the adsorption of Pb???by ACKC500 was the best. The specific surface area increased to 147 m2/g,the adsorption potential increased, the number of pore size increased, porosity increased,it was conducive to the adsorption of Pb???.Using kaolin as raw material,a series of adsorbents of Poly-Fe???/KC were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis method, the poly-Fe???/KC was characterized by SEM,XRD,EDS,FT-IR,N2 adsorption /desorption and Zeta electric potential, the effects of stirring temperature, stirring time, the ratio of n?Na2CO3?: n?Fe?NO3?3?,the ratio of m KC: VPoly-Fe to the adsorption of Congo red on the adsorbent. The results showed that the optimum adsorbent was prepared at the concentration of the solution was 0.1mol/L,n?Na2CO3?:n?Fe?NO3?3?,V Poly-Fe???: m?KC?= 10: 1,stirring temperature 60 ?,stirring time 9h,aging for 24 h.The adsorption capacity of Congo red was 76.5 mg/g,which was four times higher than kaolin clay?16.5 mg/g?.By studying the adsorption behavior in detail, the optimum adsorption conditions of Poly-Fe???/KC for Congo red were obtained: dosage was 0.2 g,the PH of Congo red was 6.0,the oscillation frequency was 190 r/min,the adsorption equilibrium time was 90 min.
