As a kind of metal foam material,aluminum foam combines the metal properties with porosity properties and there are many characteristics,such as low density,high strength,vibration damping,energy absorption and so on in it.Therefore,there would be a broad application prospect in the automobile industry,railway transportation,aerospace,architectural decorations and other fields.According to melt foaming process,the influences of stirring and tackifying on porosity rates and porous structure,and the mechanical properties of samples has been studied.The main contents of the research are as follows:(1)The influence of mixing process to foaming effect in the process of preparation of aluminum foam has been studied.Through the self-prepared blades,the influence of inclined angles,size of blade,stirring celocity,stirring time to the porosity rates and porous structure of aluminum foam has been researched.Experiments show that when the stirring time of 60s~100s,stirring celocity of 1400rpm,inclined angles of 30°,stirring proportion of 70%and blad diameter of 86mm,the pore structure and uniformity of aluminum foams are best.(2)Using melt foaming process,aluminum foams were produced by the ceramic particles and melt alloy elements to increase viscidity together.The influence of viscosity increaser to porous structure and porosity rates has been studied.The experiment used the calcium oxide and Ca particles to increase viscidity together.SEM and EDX were used to analysis the microstructure in the cell wall of Al foam prepared by different tackifing agent,and the effects of new phase on porous structure and porosity rates of A1 foam were discussed.Within the same compression velocity,the quasi-static compressive test of Al foam was did and the mechanical properties of different tackifying aluminum foam were studied.The experiment results showed that it can prepare aluminum foam with bubble distributing equably and high porosity rates by the calcium oxide and Ca particles to increase viscidity together.In the process of bubble merging and growing up,the intermetallic compound in the cell wall of aluminum foam plays an important role in keeping cellular structure and increasing porosity.The aluminum foam which was prepared by the calcium oxide and Ca particles increasing viscidity together not only has the higher energy absorption properties of Ca increasing viscidity also has the higher yield strength of calcium oxide increasing viscidity.(3)The quasi-static compression performance of aluminum foam,aluminum tube and aluminum foam filled tube was measured,and the quasi-static compression performance,energy absorption and energy absorption efficiency were studied.According to the stress-straincurves,the energy absorption propertycurves and the energy absorption efficiency curves of aluminum foam,aluminum tube and aluminum foamfilledtube,aluminum foam has high energy absorption efficiency,but low yield stress and energy absorption property,and aluminum tube has high yield stress and energy absorption property,but low energy absorption efficiency.Aluminum foam has the both advantages that not only has high energy absorption efficiency of aluminum foam,but also has high energy absorption property and yield stress of aluminum tube.
