Since ancient times,jade symbolizes elegance in China.There are 5 steps,selection,cutting,pondering,polishing and waxing,in the traditional jade manufacturing process.The traditional process takes too much time and money to produce exquisite complex jade.This article is going to apply the SLS technology to manufacture the better jade.Below is the research content.This research has chosen the epoxy as the binder.The epoxy solid is milling to powder in a planetary ball mill.After that,the suitable powder will be gained by filtering the milled epoxy using the 200 mesh and the 400 mesh sieves.There are 4 factors that affect the final diameter of the powder.They are the speed of the planetary ball mill,the milling ball,the milling time,and the ball-to-epoxy ratio.This article determined the values of the 4 factors by experiments.The planetary ball mill was also used to mix the epoxy powder with the jade powder.There are many types of the epoxy resin such as E03,E06,E12.This paper makes different mixed powder using jade powder and the epoxy powder.Different type of epoxy affects the green strength and the dimensional accuracy of the model sintered by SLS.The E12 will be chosen by testing the green strength and the dimensional accuracy of the model.Mixed powders with different proportions of epoxy resin are made.This article selects the right ratio of the epoxy in the mixed powder using the same method as the way to select the right epoxy.This article will discuss the SLS mechanism of the mixed powder and research the way that the effect of the SLS parameters on strength and accuracy of green part theoretically.Sintering parameters are laser power,scanning speed,scanning space and layer thickness.These parameters are optimized by orthogonal experiments.The final parameters are as follows: P=11w,v=2000mm/s,d=0.2mm,h=0.1mm.Post-processing of green part has been investigated too.This paper removes the extra powder with a brush and selects the best infiltrator from 3 kinds of infiltrators.The infiltration process is also studied.Degradation temperature and keeping time are analyzed for removal of binder.High temperature sintering study focuses on the process of sintering,effect of sintering parameter on property of sinter.In this paper,the SLS technology is combined with the traditional jade processing,and the material library which can be used for SLS technology is expanded,which lays the foundation for the follow-up research.
