Superalloy is difficult to be machined in cutting.The traditional cutting method has the disadvantages of high energy consumption and low efficiency.In view of the advantages of no contact,no cutting force and high efficiency in short arc machining,etc.Therefore,using short arc to process nickel base superalloy provides a new way of thinking,which is also helpful to improve the method of short arc processing.In this paper,a series of experimental studies have been carried out on the short arc machining characteristics of nickel-based superalloy In625.The effect of short arc processing on the processing characteristics of nickel-based superalloy has been analyzed.In this paper,based on the theory of gas discharge theory,the principle of discharge and material removal in the process of short arc machining is analyzed,and the whole process of machining is photographed by high speed camera.The characteristics of each stage and heat affected zone are analyzed,the electrode head and electrode material are selected,and several different materials(such as graphite and copper)are selected as the electrode tip materials.In this paper,the processing efficiency,removal amount and electrode loss of nickel-based superalloy In625 by short arc machining were studied.The melting point of tool electrode is the key factor to improve the efficiency of short arc machining and reduce the efficiency of electrode loss.The discharge gap and spindle speed are used as orthogonal factors to design experiments.The specific gravity of each factor on the surface quality of In625 is determined.The changes of surface quality,heat affected layer and metallographic structure after processing are analyzed,and the optimum parameter combination is selected.The discharge voltage is the main factor that affects the quality and efficiency of machining.
