Non-thermal plasma?NTP?produced by dielectric barrier discharge?DBD?was investigated in the experiment.Toluene was chosen to be decomposed in this study by non-thermal plasma coupled with loaded composite?-alumina and honeycomb zeolite catalysts.Mn,Ce,La were selected as the active components in the catalysts.Toluene decomposition performances of diffrent types of catalysts were investigated.The results showed that rare earth catalysts could effectively improve the removal efficiency of toluene and the degree of mineralization.La had the better catalytic performance than Ce,which was in accordance with the results of H2-TPR.The combination of plasma and Mn-La/?-alumina and Mn-La/honeycomb zeolite catalysts showed the best toluene removal performance.When discharge voltage being 22kV,the removal efficiency and amount of toluene for the 1%Mn-1%La/?-alumina catalyst and 7.5%Mn-2.0%La/honeycomb zeolite catalyst were 72.74%?73.61%and158.13mg/h?159.00mg/h,respectively.The results of XRD showed that the structure of supporters and catalysts were not changed.The energy efficiency?EE?analysis of loaded composite?-alumina catalysts was studied.The results showed that the removal efficiency and specific energy density?SED?of Mn-La/?-alumina increased,while EE decreased,compared with Mn/?-alumina.Meanwhile,SED of Mn-Ce/?-alumina decreased,and its the removal efficiency and energy efficiency increased.The products of toluene decomposition were analyzed by O3 analyzer,GC-MS,FT-IR,and spectrum test.The results showed that Mn played a main role for O3decomposition,and there were many by-products.Meanwhile,light wavelength centered on ultraviolet wavelengths,especially on long ultraviolet band,certainly there were some purple and red light between NTP.
