Research On Wax Technology And Decoration Of Wood Furniture

The hot wax technology is a kind of surface treatment method of traditional furniture.In Ming and Qing Dynasties it was widely used for hardwood furniture and wood building protection.Beeswax is the main raw material of traditional method which can protect the wood in order to reduce the harm caused by decay and insects.But the beeswax is more expensive and has the similar physicochemical properties with paraffin wax and insect wax,so nowadays traditional furniture production enterprises use mixed wax.So the research of wax ratio of raw material and quality and decorative effect is very necessary.To enhance the surface durability and decorate properties,and reduce production cost,this paper do the research of wax ratio of raw material and quality and decorative effect.To a certain extent,the research is significant for the optimization of wax-wood furniture decorative effect system.(1)The study on surface quality of wax-boards for test those are different in wax raw materials and ratio will test roughness,texture remarkableness,water tolerance,waxy film adhesion and hardness.Based on the analysis of the data,we can get the following conclusions: wax treatment can improve the material surface properties,compared with natural wax-boards,synthetic wax-boards’ surface is relatively rougher;texture is comparative prominent but gray stability is poor;hydrophobic effect is better;adhesion level is stable and harder than the natural wax film specimens.(2)The study on surface decorative effect of wax-boards for test those are different in wax raw materials and ratio will test surface gloss,color,spectral reflectance and visual psychological magnitudes.Based on the analysis of the data,we can get the following conclusions: wax treatment can improve the material surface decorative properties,compared with natural wax-boards,synthetic wax-boards’ surface has lower gloss and higher saturation and the color is redder and yellower;higher lightness value can help people to have a concise and vivid feeling,red-green axis chromatic index influence the value for psychological magnitudes of warmth and solemnity,and yellow-blue axis chromatic index can help people to have a modern and lively feeling.
