Investigation Of Tuberculosis Incidence Trends And Public Awareness Rate In Xinjiang

Objective: Understanding, analyzing and controlling the incidence of tuberculosis trends,understanding the awareness rate of control and prevention of tuberculosis in Xinjiang;providing the foundation for effective health education and health promotion.Methods: Collecting and collating the epidemiological data of tuberculosis reported by the tuberculosis network reporting system of China and analyzing through the method of statistical description; The multi-stage stratified clustered equal ratio random sampling method was applied to conduct a face to face survey among 15-year or older residents in22 survey sites selected throughout Xinjiang. The survey utilizes statistical software to analyze the awareness questionnaire in order to obtain information about the residents' awareness of core content of TB prevention and control.Results: 2009-2013 active tuberculosis patient registration rate: 115.71/10 million, 117.76/10 million, 105.88/10 million, 133.79/10 million and 141.25/10 million, overall upward trend; new smear-positive tuberculosis patients registration rate: 45.81/10 million, 41.75/10 millio,33.4/10 million, 40.7/10 million and 29.82/10 million. The overall downward trend. The public awareness rate to all core information is 5.6(1671/29833), the total public awareness rate to core information is 47.6%(70998/149165). The awareness rate of the first key message, pulmonary TB is a harmful chronic respiratory infectious disease, is59.10%(17641/29833), the rate of the second key message, coughing with sputum for more than 2weeks is highly suspicious of TB, is 70.5%(21029/29833); the rate of the third key message, TB suspects should go to the county TB dispensary for examination and treatment, is 53.8%(16063/29833); the rate of the fourth key message, TB examination and treatment at county TB dispensary is free of charge, is 19.4%(5791/29833); and the rate of the fifth key message, most pulmonary TB patients will becured with standard treatment, is 35.1%(10484/29833). Out of the 5 key messages, the awareness of the message of free-charge service is the lowest( ? 2= 19706.258,P<0.001).Conclusion: The registration rate of AP were increased year by year, but there was a significant decline in that of NSP. The task of Tuberculosis prevention and control of is still arduous, we need long-term unremitting efforts. The public awareness rate of TB knowledge in Xinjiang is still low. We Should strengthen the propaganda work of TB control knowledge to the public. Adjust measures to local conditions to develop TB knowledge of health education and health promotion.
