Method Of Warming And Subduing Yang In Treatment Of Chronic Insomnia With The Syndrome Of Deficient Yang Harassing Upward:A Clinical Research

Objective:Based on the method of Warming and Subduing Yang,We treat chronic insomnia with the Syndrome of Deficient Yang Harassing Upward with the combination use of Qian Yang An Shen decoction and Zopiclone.It is expected to explore creative ideas and methods of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) on Chronic Insomnia treatment by observing the therapeutic effect clinically and discussing theoretically.Methods : In principle of randomization, 70 recruited patients were equally divided into experimental group and control group.The experimental group were given Qian Yang An Shen decoction and Zopiclone,meanwhile the control group were given Zopiclone only.The treatment duration was 4 weeks.After treatment we estimated the clinical curative effect and evaluated the two groups on Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), Flinders Fatigue Scale(FFS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS), Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) and TCM Symptom Scale of Deficiency-yang Harassing Upward.Side effects observed in the treatment were recorded.Results:65 patients completed the protocol,33 in experimental group and 32 in control group,eliminating 5 for poor compliance.It was statistically analysized that the experimental group had better curative effect than control group(experimental group=93.9%;control group=75%).The experimental group was better than the control group in the improvement of PSQI,FFS,SDS,SAS and TCM Symptom Scale of Deficient Yang Harassing Upward(P<0.01 or P<0.05).It made no difference in MoCA improvement between two groups.Besides there were no side effects observed in the experimental group.Conclusion:Based on Yang Deficiency making Insomnia theory and method of Warming and Subduing Yang,the combination use of Qian Yang An Shen decoction and Zopiclone has better clinical curative effect,which can improve sleep efficiency,reduce fatigue,depression and anxiety,improve symptoms including soreness and weakness of waist and knee, fidget, fluster, sweats, dropsy, tinnitus and loose stool,with no obvious side effects observed.
