Objective: Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that seriously threaten women’s health, with the rapid increase of the incidence of breast cancer, it has become a main disease to threat the women’s health in recent years. The prognosis of breast cancer has always been the research focus of the medical profession. To accurately determine the prognosis of breast cancer has important significance to the treatment of the disease. Recent studies indicated that estrogen receptor related receptor alpha(estrogen alpha receptor alpha receptor-related, ERR), matrix metalloproteinase 9(metalloproteinases-9, MMP-9) played an important role in the development and progression of breast cancer and had certain prognostic value. This study through a comprehensive study of the two indicators investigated the expression of ERR, and MMP-9 in the development of breast cancer and their prognostic value in breast cancer. Methods: the clinical and pathological features were analyzed of 80 cases of breast cancer and clinical follow-up was conducted combined with immunohistochemistry to detect protein expression, to explore the err alpha and the expression of MMP-9 in breast cancer and its clinical pathological significance. Results: The results of immunohistochemistry staining showed that of all the patients err alpha expression positive rate was 31.25%(25/80) and MMP-9 expression positive rate was 52.5%(42/80),which were significantly higher than that of the corresponding expression of 25%(5/20)(P < 0.05). 20%(4/20) in breast fibroadenoma(P < 0.01). The expressions of err alpha and MMP-9 in breast cancer were related to clinical stages(P<0.05),but there was no coordination expression between them. role.ERR alpha, and MMP-9 expression were not associated with patient age, tumor size, irrespective of the histological type, but the expression of MMP-9 was related to axillary lymph node metastasis.Conclusion:(1) The positive expression of ERR alpha,in breast cancer was significantly higher than the expression of ERR alpha,, in breast benign tumors, and which may play an important role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer.(2) The positive expression of MMP-9 in breast cancer was significantly higher than the expression of MMP-9 in benign breast tumor which may play an important role in the occurrence and development of breast cancer. The positive expression of MMP-9 in breast cancer and axillary lymph node metastasis changes had synergistic expression. The present study could not confirm whether MMP-9 is a prognostic factor in developing breast cancer.
