The bad taste of drugs such as:bitter, pungent, astringent, etc. make the patient's medication compliance poor, especially the bitter taste of traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to study the application of masking technology in traditional Chinese medicine to improve patient compliance and accuracy, and to ensure the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine.Topic selected a bitter drug as bile-Gentiana used as a model drug, through the experiment, and chose the optimal extraction purification conditions and prepare gentian's total glycosides extract,and study taste masking by the solid dispersion technology, micro encapsulation technology and ion exchange technology. Evaluation of taste masking effect seleced scriptures group by taste and taste fingerprint analysis, ultimately selected better taste masking method of taste mask effect and this method was extended to the taste masking research for the bitter and active site of total alkaloids from Rhizoma Coptidis and rographolide and so on. The main research contents and results showed as below:Preparation for total gentiin extract included process research of extraction and purification. On the basis of single factor experiments, the optimum extraction process of total gentiin was selected by orthogonal test. After investigating resin screening, column liquid concentration, dynamic adsorption properties of resin, flow rate of column liquid, elution concentration, elution agent dosage, elution flow rate, finally, the central composite design-response surface method was used to choose the optimum purification process of total gentian.Total gentian extraction as raw material, with pvpk30 as accessories, was used to make solid dispersion of total gentian that could mask bitter taste. Using ethyl cellulose as auxiliary materials, and preparing the total gentiin microcapsule that masked taste by using liquid drying method. Through Amberlite IRA-400 anionic exchange resin as a carrier, total gentiin resin composite was prepared by the technology of ion exchange. After the classical group taste test, results showed that total gentiin resin composite could achieve better taste masking effect, while taste masking effect on preparation of solid dispersion and taste masking microcapsule were not ideal, and not easy to be accepted. Ion exchange technology that had a better taste masking effect was extended to prepare resin composite of total alkaloids from Rhizoma Coptidis and rographolide. The taste fingerprint analysis method was used to evaluate the taste of resin composite, and the evaluation results were consistent with the taste evaluation of the volunteers, so ion exchange technique could cover the bitter taste of the drug effectively.
