Objectives The aim of this study is to confirm the key points of heath education through questionnaire survey related knowledge,attitude and practice to the patients with liver cirrhosis.Use the knowl edge-attitude-practice model as theoretical framework,formulate the health education path schedule.Educated the patients with systematic and individualized intervention according to the health education path schedule.Discuss the impact of knowledge-attitude-practice model to patients'complications and quality of life and verify the effectiveness of the intervention.Provide theoretical basis for effective intervention to improve the patients' quality of life.Methods Convenience sampling was used to selectl21 patients from one tertiary level 1st hospital in Shan Dong province between May to September in 2016.Questionnaire of general information,questionnaire of the MOS item short from health survey(SF-36),questionnaire of KAP for liver cirrhosis patients,questionnaire of nursing satisfaction survey were used to estimate the intervention effect,SPSS 17.0 was used to conduct statistical analysis,including descriptive analysis,chi-squared test,independent t-test.Results Totally 121 patients meeting the inclusion criteria,one in control group loss to follow-up because of death.61 patients in control group and 60 patients in intervention group.There were no statistical differences in sex,age,marital status,education,income,occupation,child degree for liver cirrhosis and other general informations of two groups(P>0.05).Detailed informations were follows:1.The scores of knowledge,attitude and practice were in low level before intervention and there was no statistical significance between two groups(P>0.05).The scores of intervention group was superior to control group in knowledge score,attitude score,practice score and KAP score after intervention(P<0.05).2.There was no statistical significance in scores of quality of life and between two groups before intervention(P>0.05).After intervention,the scores for quality of life of the two groups were(62.61±14.37),(72.15±14.21),respectively.Scores for physical health were(55.55±13.32),(70.09±13.47),respectively.Scores for mental health were(52.69±17.51),(74.21±18.46),respectively.There was statistical significance between the two groups(P<0.05).Except body pain,the other scores for quality of life in intervention group are of significance(P<0.05).3?There were 15 complications among 120 patients with 12 in the control group and 3 in the intervention group.The complication rate is lower in intervention group(P<0.05).4?The nursing satisfaction of control group and intervention group was(85.14±10.32),(91.15±10.31),respectively and it was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion KAP model could improve the level of knowledge,attitude and practice,quality of life and reduce the complication rate of liver cirrhosis patients.Furthermore,KAP model could improve the nursing job content and the satisfaction of patients and it was worth further development.
