| Objective: To observe the influences of cervical sympathetic trunk transaction(TCST)on survival rate,neurological deficit score,SOD,MDA,histology,water content of brain tissue(around damage and hippocampus)and intracranial pressure(ICP)in fluid percussion brain injury rabbits,then to investigate the influences in brain injury and possible mechanisms.Methods: Sixty healthy New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: sham group,brain injury group and TCST group.We cut sympathetic trunk 3mm below the superior cervical ganglion in TCST group rabbits.ICP value per day,survival rate and neurological deficit score 72 h later,water content of brain tissue(around damage and hippocampus),SOD,MDA were observed after operation.Result: At 72 hs after operation,survival rate of TCST group was much higher(P<0.05)while neurological deficit score was a little lower(P>0.05)than brain injury group.Compared with brain injury group,SOD activity significantly increased while MDA content increased(P<0.05,respectively)in TCST group.Water content of brain tissue around damage was a little lower in TCST group(P>0.05)while significantly lower in hippocampus(P<0.05)than brain injury group.ICP values(24h,48 h,and 72 h after operation)were a little lower in TCST group than that in brain injury group(P>0.05).Conclusion: TCST can significantly raise survival rate,also it may improve neurological deficits 72 hs after injury.Alleviating the lipid peroxidation and brain edema maybe the possible mechanisms,but it has no conspicuous effects on ICP. |
