| Objective Jaw cyst is one of the most common diseases of oral and maxillofacial surgery.Due to the slow disease progression, with no obvious symptoms,it is not easy to be found. When the range of disease expands, resulting in changes in facial appearance,or Secondary infection causes the normal organizational structure destroyed, and the patient’s normal life is affected,it will be concerned. So far, cystectomy is still the main treatment method. How to repair the bone cavity of jaw cysts has been a important issue stumped Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.Over the years,Autologous bone is limited and the ills need to undergo additional surgical trauma.Allogeneic bone has the risk of immune rejection and contamination. But artificial bone replacement materials avoid these risks and play an irreplaceable role in the repair of jaw defects. This study is to compare the effects of medical calcium sulfate,β-TCP and bio-glass on the treatment of jaw cysts. The clinical efficacy of these three materials was analyzed and compared from the aspects of degradation of biological materials, the rate of new bone formation, the healing of bone cavity, the postoperative response of patients, and so on,so as to provide some reference for clinical treatment. Methods 45 cases of jaw cysts were collected from October 2014 to August 2016 in the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Anhui Medical University.Preoperative medical imaging datashowed that the diameter of jaw cysts were larger than or equal to 2.5 cm.Before cyst curettage operation, preoperative conversation should be conducted,to make sure that the patient is informed and agreed.According to the different bone cavity filling materials, these cases divided into four groups,Group A: Medical calcium;Group B: Calcium phosphate;Group C: Perioglas;Group D: Blank group.Observe the swelling degree of surgical site after operation.1,3,6,12 months later, take an x-ray to realise the bone union and degradation of biological materials in operation area. Results 45 patients are followed up.During the follow-up period, there is no complications such as pathological fracture, jaw dysfunction and facial deformities,in addition that A patient of Group A has material rejection. The swelling reaction of group A is more obvious than the other three groups. In addition, from the imaging point of view:Group A and group C: After 6 months of operation, there was no significant difference between the operative region and normal bone tissue.Group B: 12 months later, the material was completely absorbed, and the new bone was almost filled with the whole bone cavity.Group D: The rate of the new bone formation was significantly slower than that of A,B,and C groups. Conclusion Some patients of Group A would have swelling reaction in surgery and facial area one week after operation, which may be related to the acidic environment because of material degradation. In terms of bone defect repairing, medical calcium sulfate,β-tricalcium phosphate and bioglass have played a certain role in promoting in the formation of new bone and bone healing and the time of bone healing can be shortened. |
